Two bodies were discovered in a house in Co. Tipperary in unexplained circumstances this afternoon.
According to officials, they were the bodies of an elderly man and woman and were discovered at around 4pm on Monday, June 20.
Gardai attended the scene and said early indications suggest they went undiscovered for “a period of time.”
Officers say they are investigating all circumstances of their deaths in the town of Cloneen.
The residence has been preserved to allow for an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau - which is due to take place later this evening.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana confirmed: “Gardaí are investigating all circumstances following the discovery of two bodies today, Monday, 20th June 2022 in Cloneen, Co.Tipperary.
“The bodies of an elderly man and elderly woman were discovered at a domestic residence earlier this afternoon.
“The scene remains preserved at this time and an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau will take place later this evening.
The statement went on to say that “The offices of the State Pathologist have been notified."
