Gardai have launched an investigation after the body of an elderly woman was found at a property in Co Sligo on Sunday.
The discovery was at around 2:00 pm, and officers say they are looking into “all circumstances” around the 70-year-old’s death.
Her remains have since been removed from the property where they were found in Ballymote, but the woman's identity has yet to be confirmed.

A post-mortem is due to take place at the Sligo University Hospital at a later date, “which will determine the course” of the investigation.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a body of a woman in her 70s at a property in Ballymote, Co. Sligo, at approximately 2:00 pm yesterday, Sunday 24th April 2022.
“Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place at a later date, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.”
