Gardai investigating after 'criminal and malicious damage' on grave reported in Irish town

Gardai are appealing for information after they received a report over damage caused in a graveyard.

Members of the force in Carrickmacross, Co Monagan were alerted to the incident at St Joseph's graveyard in the town.

A number of items were said to be "maliciously damaged" on a grave between April 18 and April 21.

These included several solar lights which had been placed on the grave.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: "The Gardai in Carrickmacross received a report of criminal damage at St Joseph's graveyard in the town.

"A number of solar lights were maliciously damaged on a grave between Monday 18th and Thursday 21st April.

"If you have any information in relation to this incident please contact Carrickmacross Gardai on 042 9690190."
