"The window of a bus was damaged during the incident."

No injuries in relation to the incident have been reported, reports Cork Beo.

Gardai say: "investigations are ongoing."

Posting to Facebook, Cork City Councillor John Maher shared pictures of the bus involved.

The two pictures show a single-decker bus with a damaged window.

Cllr Maher wrote on Sunday evening: "Shocking carry on #GlenAvenue - bus attacked just now,

"Gardai called and on route,

"No excuse and no need for this,

"Bus drivers and ordinary public deserve better."

Other social media users have commented on the incident, condemning the damage.

"Nothing new a regular occurrence in those areas windows being smashed daily on buses and nobody held accountable for it," wrote one, but another said they understood the damage to be as a result of a collision.

"I believe that was a crash bus driver told me earlier on... Scraped off a car," they said.

Others wrote, "It wasn't a crash the bus was hit by something and the window shattered."

Speaking to Cork Beo on Monday, Cllr Maher said, "Gardai are investigating the incident, so I can't comment on what happened,

"All I can say is the Gardai don't take thing like this lightly,

"And it wasn't the bus driver's fault."
