Gardai are implementing a traffic management plan this the weekend to mitigate against anti-social behaviour and deter large crowd gathering at Burrow Beach over the summer months.
Operation Irene is an operation currently being implemented in the Raheny District to mitigate against anti-social behaviour in open areas, local attractions and on all beaches that will attract large crowds over the summer months. Earlier this week locals slammed the "disgusting" scenes on Burrow Beach with in excess of 10 tonnes of litter removed from the beach after massive crowds gathered at the beach on Monday to cool down during the hottest day of the year.
Members of Fingal County Council were out cleaning the beach at 5:30am on Tuesday and it took over six hours to clean with the help of locals. Soiled nappies, glass and plastic were among the waste dumped on the popular beach during the good weather.

In order to assist with plans for Burrow Beach the following Traffic Management Plan will be in operation from 20 July 2022. A garda spokesman said: "Vehicles travelling on the Howth Road wishing to have access to Burrow Beach will turn right/left, (depending on the direction of travel), on to Claremont Road which will now be a one way system.
"Vehicles will travel down Burrow Road and exit back on to Howth Road via Lauders Lane only. There will be no access from Burrow Road on to Claremont Road. Residents living on Claremont Road and Burrow Road will also have to adhere to this traffic management plan.
Gardai say that they will be on duty to implement the Traffic Plan and will deal with any issues.
