Two gardai were hospitalised after a stolen vehicle collided with two official Garda vehicles in Wexford on Sunday.
The theft of the car happened in the Piercetown area at approximately 5:15pm.
This vehicle was subsequently reported to have been involved in multiple road traffic collisions in the Wexford area on Sunday evening, including the collisions with the Garda vehicles in the Kilmore Quay area.
The gardai were taken to Wexford General Hospital to be treated for their injuries, and both have since been released.
The offending vehicle failed to remain at the scene of these incidents but has since been recovered.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai in Wexford are investigating the theft of a car that occurred in the Piercetown area at approximately 5:15pm on Sunday, 23rd January, 2022.
"This vehicle was subsequently reported to have been involved in multiple road traffic collisions in the Wexford area on the evening of Sunday, January 23, 2022, including collisions with two official Garda vehicles in the Kilmore Quay area. The offending vehicle failed to remain at the scene of these incidents."
They added: "No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.”
