A Garda Roads Policing Unit caught a taxi travelling 30km/h over the legal speed limit while carrying passengers.
The offence was shared to the An Garda Síochána Twitter page, a dedicated page providing information on traffic offences on Irish roads, as reported by Roads Policing Units across the country.
The taxi was travelling in the Athgarvan area of Kildare when spotted by gardaí.
Gardaí attached to the Naas Roads Policing Unit made the traffic stop after clocking the taxi travelling 30km/h over the legal speed limit.
On Twitter, they wrote: "Naas Roads Policing detected this taxi travelling at a speed of 80km/hr in a 50km/hr zone in the Athgarvan area. Passengers were on-board at the time the speed was recorded."
The driver of the taxi was issued with a Fixed Charge Notice by gardaí attached to the Naas Roads Policing Unit in Kildare, amounting to a fine of €160 to be paid.
They were also issued three penalty points on their licence.
