A woman has been arrested after a boy was attacked and injured by a dog in Wexford.
The woman, aged in her 30s, was arrested by gardai this morning.
She is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Enniscorthy Garda station.
A Garda spokesperson said they are investigating “all the circumstances” of the incident, which happened last Sunday, November 27.
Nine-year-old Alejandro Miszan was playing in a housing estate in Enniscorthy, when he was viciously attacked by a dog.
His injuries include extensive facial injuries to his bottom lip and cheeks, damage near his left eye and serious leg injuries.
The boy’s heartbroken family has said “he will never be the same again”.
A GoFundMe fundraiser set up for Alejandro's family had raised over €162,000 to date.
His older brother, Raul, thanked the public for all their donations.
The Mizsan family are originally from Romania. They have lived in Ireland for over ten years and in the new estate where the incident happened for about a year.
