Gardai investigating the death of a woman in Sligo last week have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
Mum-of-two Angela Canavan, aged in her 50s, was found dead at her home in St John’s Terrace on Monday. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 8.30pm
Her remains were removed to Sligo University Hospital for a post-mortem. Gardai say the results are not being disclosed for operational reasons.

This morning, a man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He is currently in detention at a Garda station in the North Western Region under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardai say they continue to investigate “all of the circumstances” surrounding Ms Canavan’s death.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardai continue to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a woman in Sligo on Monday 1st May 2023.
"The woman, 50s, was discovered at a residence in Sligo town shortly after 8:30pm.
"A post-mortem was conducted, the results of which are not being disclosed for operational reasons.
"This morning, Sunday 7th May 2023, Gardaí arrested a male in his 30s on suspicion of murder. He is currently in detention at a Garda station in the North Western Region under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"Investigations are ongoing."
