Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious road crash in Mayo between a car and a cyclist that resulted in a man in his 70s being taken to hospital for "serious injuries."
The incident occurred on the N84 in Ballyhean, Co Mayo at 12pm this Wednesday.
Gardaí are looking for information on the cyclist, a man aged in his 70s, who they say may have been observed cycling alone on surrounding roads in Ballyhean, between 11.30am to 12.15pm.

The road was temporarily closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, which has since concluded, with the road now re-opened.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision which occurred on the N84 in Ballyhean, Co.Mayo, at around midday on Wednesday, 14th June 2023.
"The collision involved a car and a bicycle. The cyclist, a man in his 70s, was later taken to Mayo University Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. No other injuries were reported."
A technical examination of the scene was completed after the incident, they outined.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
In particular, anyone who may have observed a lone cyclist on surrounding roads in the Ballyhean area between 11.30am – 12.15pm.
"Any road users who were travelling in the area with camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to the investigation team," a spokesperson said.
