Gardai have agreed to step in after motorists noticed a major issue with a traffic light system in an Irish village.
Drivers made the complaints at a junction on the Clermont/Aldi road in Rathnew, Co Wicklow in recent days.
Officers said lights were giving priority to the "minor" road at the junction, leading to "erratic timings" and big delays at rush hour.
However they said that engineers will be replacing the board that is responsible for the delays "in the very near future".
Local gardai wrote on Wednesday: "Gardai in Wicklow in conjunction with engineers from Wicklow County Council have been in touch regularly with the suppliers of the traffic light system governing the junction at the Clermont/Aldi road in Rathnew.
"After discussions, an undertaking has been given to replace the "board" responsible for the erratic timings currently being experienced and hopefully should be done in the very near future.
"Please continue to exercise caution at this junction as priority seems to rest with the minor road at the moment."
And gardai added on Friday that during peak rush hour traffic they will "over-ride" the current traffic light system and urged all motorists to obey hand signals.
A spokesman said: "Wicklow Gardai, after discussion with Wicklow County Council, will over-ride the traffic lights at the Clermont/Aldi junction in Rathnew today from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm in an effort to prevent traffic build-up for Friday evening commuters.
"Priority will be give to traffic coming from and towards the M11.
"Please be aware of Gardai at the junction and obey the hand signals given."
