Gardaí have issued an update after a man, who was reportedly stabbed in the neck with a bottle on December 28, died in hospital on Sunday.
The victim involved in the incident - which occurred in Carrigaline in Co Cork - passed away in the hospital as a result of his injuries on January 8.
An image of 29-year-old Matt O’Neill, who comes from a well-known family in Carrigaline, has been circulated by his family as Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

It’s understood he was hit in the head and neck with a bottle in the attack which occurred at around 5:45 pm.
According to reports at the time, it is believed that he staggered out of the house and raised the alarm himself.
He had suffered heavy blood loss and underwent emergency surgery but remained in critical condition after.
Two men in their late teens were arrested in relation to this incident and charged.
Both appeared separately before Mallow District Court on Friday, December 30, 2022, and Cork District Court on Sunday, January 1, 2023.
