A garda has been hospitalised after being run over by a car outside a South Dublin Shopping Centre.
Gardai are on the hunt for three suspects after the incident that happened outside Dundrum on Sunday evening.
The car ran over the officer who was taken to hospital with a fractured ankle.
He has since been discharged.
A video of the incident shows a number of gardai and security attempting to stop the car from driving away.
The car then accelerates and the injured officer gets dragged for a number of metres along right side before hitting the ground.
A hunt is now on to locate the driver and two other men who were occupants in the car.
A garda spokesman confirmed the incident and said gardai and security were attempting to stop the car at the time.
He said: "At approximately 6.45pm on Sunday 5th January 2020 a male Garda (30s) was injured when he was struck by a car while on active patrol dealing with an incident at the Dundrum Town Centre.
"He was taken hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. His injuries are not life threatening. No arrests have been made to date and investigations are ongoing.
"It’s understood Gardaí and security staff were attempting to apprehend the occupant of a car when it fled from the scene at speed colliding with one of the Garda members."
