Gardai patrolling in Naas over the weekend came across a driver who parked his car in a “cruel” manner, leading officers to hand them a fine as they warn other drivers.
The incident occurred on South Main Street when gardai spotted the vehicle parked across two Disabled Parking Bays. To add insult to injury, the garda spokesperson said they did this despite there being four empty parking spaces nearby.
It was confirmed that the culprit was issued with a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice and officers are asking the public to keep these spaces clear “for those who need them.”

In a post on Twitter, the garda traffic corp confirmed: “Naas RPU were on patrol recently when they saw this at South Main Street Naas parked across 2 Disabled Parking Bays despite 4 empty Parking places nearby.
“A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was issued to the driver.
“Please keep these parking spaces clear for those who need them.”
The post garnered attention from the public who were outraged but say it happens all the time around the country. Some went as far as to say the driver should have been given double the fine for blocking two spots.
One person wrote under the post: “I hope he got 2 fixed penalty notices as he's blocking 2 spots it should be double the fine.”
Another said: “This gives a whole new meaning to road hogging.”
A third simply added: “Should be 2 fines.”
While a fourth said: “Sadly I witness this unkindness/cruelty every day. The fine should be €2,000 and the careless able-bodied driver made resit driving test, more so learn respect for others.”
