Gardai have warned road users of a change in the speed limit for some drivers after one person was caught out and now must appear in court.
The Naas Roads Policing Unit was in operation on the M7 on Friday and spotted a van towing a loaded trailer travelling at a speed of 130km/h.
Road conditions were already treacherous with the rain and although the driver was just 10km/h over the normal speed limit, those towing a loaded trailer must abide by a much lower speed limit.

Gardai have highlighted that under Irish law, anyone towing a loaded trailer of any kind must not exceed a speed limit of 80km/h.
This driver was arrested on the spot and charged with dangerous driving while a court date is pending.
Confirming the arrest on social media, a garda spokesperson said: “Naas RPU stopped a van towing a loaded trailer, which was travelling at a speed of 130km/h in torrential rain on the M7 yesterday.
“Vehicles towing trailers are restricted to a max. speed of 80km/h.
“Driver arrested & charged with Dangerous Driving, to appear in court.”
