Gardai have targeted two specific vehicles during a weekend checkpoint operation at one of Ireland's most popular tourist spots.
Officers attached to a Wexford unit stationed themselves at the White Mountain site after reports were made of quad bikes, scramblers and illegally parked cars causing obstructions.
This could be particularly dangerous for emergency vehicles.
A Garda statement read: "Gardaí from New Ross conducted a number of checkpoints at White Mountain this morning.
"Gardaí were responding to reports of an increase in quad and scrambler use in the area. Gardaí also patrolled areas where reports of cars being parked causing obstruction for residents and potentially restricting access for the emergency services.
"Should you visit scenic areas please park responsibily and ensure you remove all valuables"
In 2021, gardai in Dublin were given additional powers to seize "intimidating" scrambler and quad bikes on the spot after 62 people were injured on the vehicles during 2020.
The move came after Fianna Fail TDs campaigned for stricter laws on scrambler bikes.
And they are now being enforced.
New legislative measures have been put in place to give An Garda Siochana the authority to help tackle the anti-social use of scrambler bikes, quad bikes, and similar off-road machines in spaces such as public parks, green areas, waste ground and beaches.
