Garda Checkpoints: Driver pulled over twice in 15 minutes for same offence as punishments add up

One driver was pulled over twice within fifteen minutes on Thursday as gardai opted to mount double the punishment on them.

According to officers, the Naas Roads Policing Unit caught a motorist going 132km/h in a 100km/h zone and pulled them over.

After issuing the driver a fine and penalty points, the driver was allowed to continue on their way.

Just fifteen minutes later, the same driver was caught speeding once again after it whisked by an unmarked patrol car.

The gardai who witnessed the second law break said they were on a continuous white line and were driving at speed in the Caragh area.

They were pulled over once again and were issued with another speeding ticket along with a fine.

This meant the motorist was handed a total of €320 fines and 6 penalty points within that 15 minutes.

Confirming the incident on Twitter, a Garda spokesperson wrote: “Naas RPU stopped this vehicle speeding at 132km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N7 yesterday.

“15 minutes later it overtook an unmarked patrol car on a continuous white line at speed on a local road in the Caragh area.

“FCPNs issued to a combined €320 and 6 penalty points in 15 mins”.
