Enemies of mobster Mr Flashy targeted him with a petrol bomb – but got the wrong house with an innocent family inside.
The latest incident in the feud the mobster - who is under “severe threat” - and his cronies have embroiled himself in happened on Monday night in Finglas, west Dublin.
Gardai believe associates of dead Shane Fowler were attempting to target the home of a female associate of Flashy’s, where he stays frequently in a high-security granny flat-style building on the property.
However, the gangsters wrongly targeted another home just before 8pm and the petrol bomb exploded in the garden with the innocent family inside.
A source said: “They got the wrong house which highlights how reckless these feuds can become.
“But it also shows that these individuals are intent on getting Flashy.
“There’s no doubt that there’s a severe threat on Flashy’s life at the moment.”
Gardai have launched a criminal damage probe but have yet to make any arrests.
A Garda spokeswoman said: “Gardai are investigating reports of an incident of criminal damage at a property in the Deanstown Green area of Finglas.
“This is reported to have occurred at approximately 7:55pm, on Monday evening, Monday February 7. No injuries have been reported at this time.
“No further information is currently available. Investigations are ongoing.”
The feud between Mr Flashy and associates of Fowler has been ongoing for some years.
Fowler died in a motorbike crash in 2019 and one theory gardai probed at the time was that he was on the way to carry out a hit on the leader of the so-called ‘Gucci gang’.
The latest escalation came after Fowler’s pals dished out a beating to one of Flashy’s mates and stole an expensive watch.
They then used social media to taunt their rivals with the watch.
Flashy’s gang then beat a target in the Dunsink area of Finglas with golf clubs and bats over a week ago.
The victim of that attack suffered a broken eye socket among other serious injuries and the teenager was treated at Temple Street hospital before he was later discharged.
Gardai are investigating whether shots were fired at another property linked to Mr Flashy since that incident before the petrol bomb on Monday.
Although the feud has died down at different times, partially down to Covid-19 measures and the extra Garda presence on the streets, investigators say it has never gone away.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to Monday’s incident.
The spokeswoman added: “Gardai are appealing to anyone with any information to contact them. They are particularly keen for anyone who may have witnessed or have camera footage of this incident to make contact with Gardaí.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Finglas Gardaí on 01 666 7500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
