A gang of four masked raiders carried out a terrifying burglary at a luxury Cheshire home. Dressed all in the black and armed with an axe and knife, the men targeted a property on a quiet country lane in Alderley Edge.
Police said a male owner of the house was badly affected by the early morning raid. They are appealing for witnesses after gems, cash, and watches were stolen.
A number of watches were stolen including ones made by Patek Philppe, Audemar Piguet and Rolex. Other items of jewellery snatched included a diamond pendant and a diamond ring. About £2,000 in cash was also taken.
The incident took place on Warford Hall Drive, a winding lane, in Great Warford, close to the 11-bedroom country mansion, Warford Hall, where Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn Ward and footballer husband, Ashley, once lived.
In a statement Cheshire Constabulary said: "Four men, carrying a knife and an axe, have smashed the back door of a house on Warford Hall Drive, Great Warford.
"The men, all dressed in black with their faces covered, confronted the occupant demanding he hand over high value watches then searched the house for more items before fleeing the area with a large quantity of money and jewellery. The burglary took place at around 9.40pm on Wednesday 27 April.
"A number of enquiries have been ongoing and officers are appealing for information, CCTV and dash cam footage that could assist with their investigation."
Detective Sergeant Helen Sumner, of Macclesfield local policing unit, said: “The occupant has understandably been left shaken by what happened at his home and is being supported by officers.
“We have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and are continuing to appeal to residents to come forward with information, CCTV or dash cam footage that they may have that could help to identify the men involved. I would ask anyone who may have seen unusual activity in the days running up to the burglary or on the night itself to get in touch with us.”
