A man has been left with serious head, hand and leg injuries after a ‘targeted’ gang attack inside his East Kilbride home. The 59-year-old was rushed to hospital for treatment after being badly hurt in the Chatham area on Thursday, July 7.
Police say three assailants entered the property before carrying out the sustained assault at around 6pm. One of the men is described as being white, around 6ft tall and spoke with a local accent.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and scouring CCTV footage in a bid to catch the attackers. They are keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.
Detective Inspector Jamie Campbell said: “The motive for this attack is not known, however, we do believe this was a targeted attack. I am asking people in the local area to think back to last night, did you see three men hanging around, did you notice anything odd or suspicious?
“If you have any information about this incident, please contact us. In particular, if any motorists with dash cams were in the area, please check your footage as it could have captured something which would assist our enquiries.
“Any small detail could prove significant, so please do pass it on.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2883 of 7 July 2022. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give information anonymously.
