In the eighth and final series of Game of Thrones, Jon Snow discovered his true name was Aegon Targaryen, a potential heir to the Iron Throne.
In the series finale, he was exiled from Westeros and journeyed North of the Wall with the Wildlings to leave his old life behind. It's understood the show will pick up from this point and explore his story after leaving Westeros.
The news comes as a prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, is set to be released by HBO later this year.
It will tell the story of a civil war within House Targaryen and is set about 200 years before the events in GoT.
The 10-episode series stars Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen and is based on George R R Martin’s Fire And Blood novel.
The production of Game of Thrones generated an estimated £251 million for the Northern Ireland economy, according to a report from Tourism NI.
