'Game-changing' banana hack that makes fruits ripe for baking in 20 minutes

Even though the days of lockdown are long gone, banana bread is still a popular treat to whip up in the kitchen as it's simple and doesn't require a lot of ingredients. Obviously, the main thing that gives the sweet bread its flavour is the mashed bananas that need to go into every loaf.

But green or even yellow bananas often don't do the trick, as they need to be fairly blackened for the best results. Waiting for the fruits to ripen over time isn't always ideal, especially if you're desperate to get that banana bread made.

Thankfully, a woman on TikTok has revealed how you can speed up the process to just 20 minutes. The helpful hack, which was shared on social media by @wellnessbykay, has racked up over 1.4million views since it was posted with many people hailing it as a 'game-changer'.

The lifestyle content creator says it's her 'go-to' baking trick and doing it will mean you 'never' have to wait for your bananas to ripen again. In the short video, captions across the screen read: "You want to make banana bread but don't have any ripe bananas".

Kay takes a baking tray lined with parchment paper and places three unripe bananas on it, taking the tray away from the frame. When she returns, the bananas have fully blackened and look ideal for baking.

She clarifies in the caption: "Just bake at 300 degrees for 20-30 minutes." This is around 148 degrees Celsius. Proving that the bananas are ready to be baked into a delicious bread, Kay then peels the skin off revealing that the insides are perfectly soft and easy to mash up.

In the comments, people were quick to praise Kay for sharing the hack, with many eager to try it for themselves and see how it worked. One person said: "Yes! Popped them in the oven whilst it was preheating and they were perfect! Game changer."

"This is GAME CHANGING," another person echoed.

A third commenter wondered: "Does it make them as sweet as ripe bananas ?" To which Kay replied: "Yes i think it does!!"
