'Game changing' £2.50 item that means you can repurpose all those leftover Gü and Aldi pudding pots

Gü puddings are a delicious treat to have after a meal, with just enough in the pot to satisfy those with a sweet tooth. But fans of the pudding can find that they end up with loads of glass ramekins which seem a shame to throw away.

The small pots can be reused for many things, so people often keep hold of them. They can be used for poaching eggs, storing spices, or as a place to keep little bits and bobs you wouldn't otherwise know what to do with.

But their potential to be reused is limited by the fact they don't come with a solid lid. This means using the pots to store liquid or taking them out and about with you isn't really practical.

However, there is now a creative and innovative product helping people to solve this issue, the Manchester Evening News reports. The “genius” hack has been invented by a pair of entrepreneurs, and some shoppers have called it a “game changer”.

Pudding Pot Lids have created the perfect solution by creating bamboo suction seal lids that allow you to easily reuse not just Gü pots, but also similar dessert ramekins from Lidl and Aldi. The lids are water-tight, allowing you to store sauces and salad dressings in the containers.

The eco-friendly and sustainable lids are also stackable, making it easier to store them in kitchen cupboards or transport your food. The company was set up by Jana and Jess in Hackney, London, and the pair say they “strive to be as green as possible”.

On the company's TikTok page, Jana and Jess share videos about how the lids can be used. They have also shared sweet videos of their ginger cat, which happens to be the same colour as the product.

People who have been hoarding the glass pots without knowing what to do with them have been expressing their love for the handy product online. Commenting on the company's Instagram, scandiyears said: “What a fantastic idea, great for cake decorations.”

ivf.ninja.mama wrote: “They’re awesome best for keeping left over avo super fresh.” And angelacoelho97 added: “Life changed!”

Melmackuk wrote: “This is totally genius. Just need to get home from work and count how many I have in my cupboard and I'm buying lids galore!” And slim_o_gram added: “What a bloody brilliant idea!! I have so many GU pots in my cupboard!!”

Carmelcraftcreations put: “Just stumbled across your page - these lids are a GENIUS idea!!” Someone called crckdpppr said the lids were a “game changer” and thejoyofcleo added: “Such a great idea I have enough Gu pots to supply a small chain of restaurants.”

Another happy customer of the company, artisanunicorn, put: “So pleased I found you! I have a collection of Guu pots that I use every day but always felt they had more potential, now they have!”

The lids retail at £4.99 for two, working out at £2.50 each.
