Gamble Hill Place Leeds police statement as investigation launched into 'shooting' just yards from primary school

Police have cordoned off a Leeds street following reports of a shooting near a primary school in the city.

West Yorkshire Police were called to a home in Gamble Hill Place, Wortley, on Friday following reports of "loud bangs" in the area at around 3am. Gamble Hill Place is just yards from Greenhill Primary School.

Officers remain at the scene tonight (January 27) as the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police are investigating reports of a firearms discharge in the Wortley area of Leeds in the early hours of this morning.

"Officers were called to an address in Gamble Hill Place after reports of loud bangs being heard in the area at around 3am. Officers are currently at the scene and are establishing exactly what happened."

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 quoting log number 0273 of January 27. Information can also be given to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
