The Dough Bros in Galway city has been named the best pizza takeaway in Europe by 50 Top Pizza.
The prestigious outlet frequently publishes guides to the best pizzerias across the world, as chosen by three food experts: Barbara Guerra, Albert Know and Luciano Pignataro.
At the awards which took place in Milan, The Dough Bros was also named as the best pizzeria in Ireland and the 27th best pizzeria in the world.
Speaking about the award on Instagram, they said: "We shut our doors for the night, drank fast pints and burned new holes in our team's ears with grade A shite talk. A new 6-day record-breaking hangover was set but worth every bit. A top, top buzz!
"The last 18 months have thrown some major curveballs but despite it all, it has been our most rewarding yet. Thank you to everyone that has helped us along the way. We have never been more excited or driven about the future and what lies ahead!"
These are just the latest accolades that the restaurant has received because it's also named as one of Lucinda O'Sullivan's Great Places to Eat 2020 and as a Best In Ireland for last year's McKennas Guide.
The restaurant is run by brothers Eugene and Ronan Greaney, and is located on Galway's Middle Street.
The Dough Bros are known for their Neapolitan-style pizza, topped with Italian and local Irish salami and cheese.
During the course of the pandemic, the team started to provide DIY kits, which proved to be very popular with their customers.
Speaking about the achievement for the Irish restaurant, 50 Top Pizza said: "During these past eighteen months that have been so challenging for the worldwide restaurant sector, two brothers from Galway have transformed the roadblock of the health crisis into an opportunity.
"They never lost courage, but instead perfected their delivery service and even created a kit to make pizza at home. The pizza is baked in a wood-fired oven in their establishment near Galway. They have done a great job. Besides the doughs, their selection of raw materials is always at the highest of standards. Even the kits will produce one of the best pizzas in the country."
