The Galway Plate is a race that I have great memories of after winning it in 2003 on a horse called Nearly A Moose.
It's a huge race to win and I'm delighted that I have it on my CV.
Last year's second Easy Game tops the weights off a mark of 160 this time around and that tells you how good a race it has become.

I'm going to side with last year's fourth, The Shunter. I thought he was unlucky last year. He ran into a bit of traffic problems coming down the hill and with a clearer run I think he would have gone an awful lot closer.
He won impressively on the flat in Sligo on his last start and it's often the case that a horse that wins the Galway Plate, like Nearly A Moose did all those years ago, has a run on the flat before running in the Plate.
An each-way possibility in the race would be Discordantly right down at the bottom of the weights at a slightly fancier price.
He can sometimes be a big sluggish to jump off, but if he gets a good start under Denis O'Regan, he could run a big race at a big each-way price. He's a course and distance winner which is hugely important going to Galway.
One of my bankers of the week runs in the last race this evening in Unanswered for Tony Martin and John Breslin, who love to have success in Galway.
This lad won impressively the last day which got him up enough to get into this race. He runs with 9-7 on his back and just creeps into the race two from the bottom. He has a good draw in 7, he's a horse on the improve and he'll be very hard to beat.
Willie Mullins runs three in the opening race and you'd imagine Champ Kiely is the pick of them with Paul Townend riding. I think this is a race between him and Dawn Rising, who was a decent flat horse for Aidan O'Brien.
He goes jumping now and could be a very interesting recruit to hurdling and I'd have slight preference for him over Champ Kiely.
Denis Hogan had a winner on the opening night of the meeting and he has a good chance with Wild Hunt, who has won two of his last three starts, in the second contest.
The Mares Handicap Hurdle is a very competitive race but I like the look of Return To Base. She was a very impressive of a maiden hurdle at Punchestown last time.
It might not have been the strongest of Punchestown maiden hurdles, but she got a mark of only 111 for winning a Punchestown maiden hurdle all the same so she might still have a few pounds up her sleeve in her first run in a handicap and she could be the one.
Dairerin would be interesting for Jessicsa Harrington if turning out again after winning on Monday, when he won with a bit in hand. He is down to run in the penultimate contest.
