Galway footballers enjoy action at Galway Races as Padraic Joyce horse finishes last

A number of Galway footballers headed to Ballybrit on Tuesday as they enjoyed an action packed day of racing.

Galway were beaten in Sunday's All-Ireland final in Croke Park as Kerry won their first All-Ireland title since 2014.

In what was a thrilling game, Kerry managed to kick on in the last 10 minutes in a final to remember.

But the Galway footballers didn't let the loss dampen their spirits as they headed to the races on Tuesday.

A number of footballers including Damien Comer and Dylan McHugh were pictured celebrating as they soaked in the action.

Also in attendance was Galway boss Padraic Joyce but there was no fairytale ending for the Tribesman legend.

Joyce had vested interest in the 7.50 pm race as his horse 'Chavajod' was racing but was a longshot at 40/1.

Riding under jockey Leigh Roche and trainer Michael O'Callaghan, Chavajod finished last in a field of 16.

Racing resumes today in what should be another entertaining day of racing and you can check out our horse racing section where we will have live updates.
