Derry City and Strabane District Council said it will work alongside community groups to organise the official opening of the Galliagh Community Centre in the coming weeks.
It was anticipated that the community building would be opened at the end of March.
However, the council told MyDerry previously that there had been a delay due to issues installing an energy-efficient system.

The Department for Communities, the Council and other partners have funded the project that will host the Galliagh Women’s Group, On Street Community Youth, Galliagh Community Group, Teach Na Failte and CRJ.
The opening of the new hub comes after neighbouring centres in Shantallow and Top of the Hill were opened in 2021.
Other sites, including Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank, Culmore and Glenview are expected to be built in the coming years.
In a statement, a council spokesperson said: "That the works at the new Galliagh Community Centre are completed and keys to the premises handed over to the community organisation.
"The Council will work with the community group, funders and stakeholders with regard to an official opening date and launch."
