United's only possible route through to the knockout stages now involves them beating dominant Group A winners Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on matchday six next month, while also hoping that rivals FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray play out a draw in Denmark on the same night. While not impossible, it is a very tough task and leaves Erik ten Hag's side relying on favours from elsewhere.
Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes fired the visitors 2-0 ahead inside 18 minutes on Wednesday, while they later led 3-1 after Scott McTominay's goal after the interval. However, two crucial errors from goalkeeper Andre Onana at Hakim Ziyech free-kicks proved costly before Kerem Akturkoglu's emphatic equaliser.
