Galatasaray ponder Rangers transfer swoop as they look to make most of Ridvan Yilmaz situation

Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz is a reported target for Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to reports abroad.

The Ibrox club splashed out £5.5 million on the Turkey international during their summer window spending but he has struggled to make any sort of impact when pulling on the Rangers jersey. He has featured in just four matches and made a 10-minute cameo off the bench on Saturday as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men ran out 4-0 winners in the Premiership against St Mirren.

Yilmaz has been unable to dislodge Borna Barisic from the left-back spot and now several reports suggest Galatasaray are 'monitoring' how he gets on in Scotland. A permanent exit isn't likely as Yilmaz wants to fight for his place in Govan but a loan move has been mooted as he looks to play regular football. Van Bronckhorst recently spoke of the defender and how he has viewed his slow start to life in Glasgow.

The Rangers manager explained: "For Ridvan this is a new club and country, he’s settling in really well. The beginning was a bit hard for him to get settled.

"But I see improvement in his training, he feels more settled with the players. It’s always good to see that.

"We have to see in the coming weeks that he will feature more in the team. Of course, depending on what we need in games."
