Gabriel Martinelli believes Arsenal will have an "amazing" 2022/23 season and has revealed how he has helped some of the Gunners' summer signings settle at the club. The 21-year-old is part of a growing core of Brazilian players within the ranks at the Emirates Stadium.
Gabriel Jesus and Marquinhos both joined as new transfers in the window, adding to Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes as a South American contingent. While Jesus, Martinelli and Gabriel have all broken into the Brazil national team, there will be hopes they can also play a role in Marquinhos developing to join them as a regular in the side.
On the additions of his fellow countrymen, Martinelli said: “It’s good to have a lot of Brazilians players here. Gabi and Marquinhos are new, they’re good guys to have them here. All the players like them as well. I think it’s going to be an amazing season for us.”

With his compatriots trying to settle in with their new club, the winger opened up on his role in helping them: “I’m still young, you know! But yeah of course, whatever I can do to help them, I’m going to do. It’s a pleasure to help them.
“I think they [Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira] have to learn the language — same as me, big Gabi [Magalhaes] and Gabriel Jesus. We did it. They need to learn it, it’s important.”
With so many Gabriels in the squad, it can get confusing as to who is who. While it seems as though nicknames may have been found for communication on the field, Martinelli jokes: “No, it’s Gabi-Gabi-Gabi! But yeah it’s important to learn the language to talk to people at the club and the fans. I think it’s one of the most important things.”
At just 21, Martinelli has already had a profound impact on the Gunners since making his breakthrough to the first-team. Last season he made 29 Premier League appearances, scoring six and assisting six in a much-improved campaign for his side.
It makes the forward a much more established member of the squad, having previously made partial appearances from the bench. Martinelli told football.london about the transition and his desire within the wider team: “It’s been ok [the transition]!
“I know my role in the team and I’ll always try to help my team-mates and the club as well. Whatever I can do to help my team-mates, I will try to do.”
While Arsenal missed out on a top four finish and a return to the Champions League last season, the new additions will certainly be hoping the squad can have the “amazing” season the young forward has predicted.
