Gabriel Magalhaes has already confirmed his commitment to Arsenal amid Juventus interest

The days of having to sell our best players may be behind us, but it never stops you from worrying about other clubs showing interest in them from time to time.

Thankfully for Arsenal, their transfer and contract policy has improved significantly over the past couple of years and the majority of key first-team players are under long-term deals. Those that are running down like Bukayo Saka's, for example, will be viewed as a priority for the club to extend.

Of course, being under contract on long-term deals doesn't mean much in today's market, if a player is wanted and the buyer has the money, then there's nothing stopping them from at least trying to get their man. At the end of the day, every player has their price, however, they would also need to be willing to move and that tends to be the hope we all hang onto whenever our favourites are being linked elsewhere.

Several Arsenal players are believed to be available on the market this summer, including Nicolas Pepe, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira, Hector Bellerin and Pablo Mari. One of them that certainly isn't on that list is Gabriel Magalhaes, but that hasn't stopped him from being the subject of reported interest from Juventus.

The Serie A side is said to be on the hunt for a new centre-back due to the departure of Giorgio Chiellini and the imminent sale of Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich. According to various reports, Gabriel is one of three potential replacements being considered and is highly admired by club figures.

Juventus' interest is all fair and well, but having signed him just two years ago on a long-term deal, Arsenal are well positioned if a phone call was received. Not only that, but the player himself has already appeared to respond to the links and it would suggest good news for the Gunners.

Interest from Juventus was first reported back in April and into May. As the links were picking up in the media, Gabriel scored in Arsenal's 2-1 win at West Ham and his celebration was rather telling. He ran towards the away end and pointed towards the badge on his shirt for what seemed to be a symbol of commitment to the club.

Whether or not it was directly linked to the rumours isn't known, but the choice of celebration and timing of it was very interesting indeed. Even if it wasn't, Gabriel seems very settled and happy in north London. He's a valuable member of a young and exciting team, not to mention the ever-growing Brazilian contingent he is also part of.

What happens in the future remains to be seen, the transfer window can be long and unpredictable. Saying that, it wouldn't surprise me to see Gabriel end the speculation by putting pen to paper on a new contract later down the line. He is so important to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta does not underestimate that.
