Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has signed a new long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium after he was linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.
Juventus were said to be keen on signing the Brazilian defender but he is now set to remain in north London for the coming years. Gabriel joined the Gunners from Lille back in 2020 after completing a £23.5million transfer and has been a mainstay in defence for Mikel Arteta ever since.
The 24-year-old has featured in all but one game so far this season highlighting how much of a key asset he has become at the Emirates Stadium. Technical director Edu Gaspar and Arteta have expressed their delight after the Brazilian agreed to sign a new long-term deal, with the latter revealing Gabriel is a 'pleasure' to work with and that he is key to the future of the club.

After signing a new long-term deal that will see him stay at the Emirates Stadium for the foreseeable future, Gabriel said: "I’m very happy to sign this new contract with Arsenal, because it's such a big club. It’s my dream and today is the best day of my life.
"I’m so happy to extend my contract here. Every game the supporters are pushing the team in the stadium.
"It’s why I’m so happy to stay here. Arsenal is my home."
The Brazilian defender is already setting his sights on what he wants to achieve in the future with the Gunners as he continues to help his team compete at the top of the Premier League and in Europe. The 24-year-old added: "In the future, I want to win games for Arsenal, I want to win trophies with Arsenal and stay here for a long time because it’s my home."
There is no doubt that Gabriel's performances have been crucial to helping the Gunners sit four points ahead of reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the table, especially given the change in formation from Arteta and injuries in midfield ahead of him.
The Brazilian will be keen to continue his form ahead of the World Cup in Qatar next month and help his team achieve success in the form of a return to the UEFA Champions League and silverware this season.
