Gabriel Magalhaes backs ‘quality’ Gabriel Jesus to ‘help’ Arsenal ‘a lot’ with transfer pursuit on

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has backed the club’s pursuit of Manchester City striker, Gabriel Jesus.

The forward has emerged as Arsenal’s leading target this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to introduce more firepower into his squad following the winter departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Jesus, who will enter the final year of his contract in only a few weeks, could be sold should he not sign a new deal with City having signed both Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez ahead of next season.

Arsenal are ready to step-up their pursuit of the 25-year-old and are confident they can attract him to the club despite missing out on Champions League football.

Former City assistant Arteta’s personal relationship with the player and the chance to play regularly as a No.9 are all thought to be selling factors.

Speaking ahead of Brazil’s friendly with South Korea later this week, Arsenal defender Gabriel said: “We play in the same dressing room, but nothing is certain.

“He is certainly a quality player and, if he goes to Arsenal, he will help us a lot.”
