The latest Arsenal injury update is that Gabriel Jesus has reportedly suffered an ACL injury – as Mikel Arteta said that it’s ‘not looking good at all’ for the Brazilian striker.
Gabriel Jesus Injury Update: Striker Suffers Suspected ACL Injury
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus was forced off just 41 minutes into their FA Cup third-round defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
It is a hammer blow for the Gunners as Jesus had just picked up scoring form over the last month.
After a tough start to the season, the Brazilian had scored six goals across his last seven appearances for the Gunners.
Sky Sports in an injury update on Gabriel Jesus, reported that Jesus had suffered a suspected ACL injury.
The injury might force Arsenal into action during the January transfer window. There had already been concerns over Arsenal’s goalscoring issues before Jesus went off against the Red Devils.
Mikel Arteta Addresses Jesus Injury
Mikel Arteta provided his own injury update on Gabriel Jesus on Tuesday morning while speaking to reporters.
“We know more now. It is not looking good at all,” said Arteta ahead of Wednesday’s North London Derby against Tottenham.
“We need to review with one more specialist and will have better information this afternoon.”
When asked if Jesus could be out for the season, he responded: “I don’t want to confirm anything until we have the final report this afternoon. We were very worried after the game and we are very worried today.”
Kai Havertz has been Arsenal’s main central attacker this season. Eddie Nketiah was sold in the summer while forwards Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka are both out with injuries.
“We are actively looking in the market to improve the squad,” added Arteta. “We would be naive not to do that. There is an opportunity to improve the squad.”
Despite the injury update on Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal go into Wednesday’s North London Derby hoping to make ground up on Liverpool – who are six points clear with a game in hand.
