Gabriel Jesus shares post-surgery update as injured Arsenal star declares it’s ‘time to go home’

Blow: Gabriel Jesus has undergone knee surgery

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has posted an update following knee surgery.

The striker was injured during Brazil’s final World Cup group stage game against Cameroon and is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

There are fears the 25-year-old could miss up to three months of action in a major blow to Mikel Arteta’s title push in north London.

Jesus has scored five goals since leaving Manchester City for Arsenal and options in attack behind him are limited.

As a result, the club could be forced into action in the January transfer market. While Arsenal are currently reluctant to put a timescale on his return, the idea of relying on only Eddie Nketiah for a prolonged period of time is a concern.

Arsenal have previously shown they are ready to act when injuries impact their squad by making an ultimately doomed move for Douglas Luiz following fitness issues with both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny in August.

On Wednesday, Jesus posted a photo on his Instagram account which showed him waving his crutches in the air, captioned: “Time to go home.”
