Gabriel Jesus has made it clear that the Premier League title race with Liverpool is far from over.
Manchester City had fallen behind Liverpool in the table earlier this week following Jurgen Klopp's side's 4-0 hammering of Manchester United but Pep Guardiola's men responded in style. A hard-fought 3-0 victory over Brighton on Wednesday was followed up with a comfortable 5-1 win against Championship-bound Watford on Saturday.
In a week in which his future has come into doubt due to the expected arrival of Erling Haaland, Jesus proved he still has a part to play at City as he notched an impressive four-goal haul in the match. Rodri grabbed the other goal against Watford.

The result sees the Blues stretch their lead at the top of the table to four points ahead of the Merseyside derby with Everton on Sunday, though a Liverpool win will again shorten the gap to just a single point. The two sides are embroiled in yet another enthralling title race that harks back to the 2018-19 season — which wasn't decided until the final day with City narrowly clinching the title.
With their one-point advantage, should City win their remaining five fixtures against Leeds, Newcastle, Wolves, West Ham and Aston Villa then they will be champions once again. It's in their hands.
However, when asked if he 'considered City as the champions again' by beIN SPORTS, Jesus was quick to shut down any premature celebrations. The Brazilian said: "Of course not. We are the champions of last year but not this year, yet. We have five finals to go but we now have to think about Real Madrid because it will be a tough game."
In a separate interview, the striker also warned his team not to get distracted by Liverpool's results and just continue to focus on themselves.
"We have to do our job, not look to them (Liverpool)," he told City's in-house media. "We know they have a lot of amazing players and can win all the games. We are in front and, of course, it's not easy but we have to do our job.
"Now is the most important part of the season with the final games, which decide the trophies. We lost one cup (FA Cup semi-final to Liverpool), so we have to play every game as a final."
