Gabriel Jesus 'rejects' five clubs in favour of Arsenal transfer as Mikel Arteta and Edu 'key'

Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus rejected five clubs in favour of an Arsenal transfer if recent reports are to be believed.

The north Londoners are keen to bolster their attacking options and football.london previously revealed that Jesus is one name on the club's shortlist of options and recent reports suggest that the Brazilian international is close to joining Mikel Arteta's side in the coming days. And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the player was approached by six different clubs but it was always the Gunners that were his priority.

Writing on Instagram, Romano said: "Gabriel Jesus joins Arsenal on permanent deal, it’s now 100% done and completed: here we go! Arsenal had a new direct contact with Gabriel’s agent Marcelo Pettinati @energysports13 & his partners Paulo Pitombeira and Caca Ferrari, full agreement reached on personal terms.

"Gabriel Jesus will sign until June 2027 as new Arsenal player, his main priority since long time - deal is now all completed and 100% done. Man City already accepted final proposal for £45m guaranteed fee received from Arsenal, as revealed here on Friday.

"Six clubs approached agents of Gabriel Jesus but his priority has always been Arsenal - director Edu and Mikel Arteta, key to complete the deal. Arsenal will announce Gabriel as third signing after Matt Turner and Fábio Vieira… and then it’s absolutely not over yet."

The 25-year-old netted 13 goals and provided a further 12 assists across all competitions last season, impressive numbers when you consider he played just 2570 minutes in total.
