Gabriel Jesus makes Arsenal and Man City comparison after completing £45m summer transfer

Gabriel Jesus has opened up on the comparisons regarding the projects at Arsenal and Manchester City.

At the beginning of the week, the Brazil international became the Gunners' fourth signing of the summer transfer window - after Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Matt Turner - with his £45m move from the reigning Premier League champions finally being announced on the morning of July 4.

And following the unveiling of Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal supporters were granted exclusive access to his very first day at Emirates Stadium which included him visiting the dressing room, seeing the directors' box and heading all the way up to the stadium roof.

At one stage the striker was standing on the pitch with the club's technical director Edu who made a point to outline the club's vision to the big money summer signing: "And you see a good team, a young team as I explained to you the project: What we are looking for, for the future of this club," he said.

"For the present, and of course for the future of this club. So you are the right profile to impact our present. And then of course to help us go for a beautiful future as we plan to do."

At 25, Gabriel Jesus is fast approaching his prime and could be one of the senior members of Arteta's first-team squad when the transfer window closes especially if the likes of Lucas Torreira (26), Hector Bellerin, Alex Runarsson, Nicolas Pepe (all 27), Pablo Mari (28) and Bernd Leno (30) all leave.

But what does a beautiful future at Arsenal look like? Well, after scoring twice on his non-competitive debut in their pre-season friendly win over FC Nurnberg on Friday afternoon, the Brazilian was asked if his new club could push his former side as well as Liverpool and Chelsea for major honours once the 2022/23 campaign gets underway.

And the 25-year-old's response was rather interesting as he pointed out the similarities as well as the differences in the respective projects at the Emirates Stadium and the Etihad Stadium.

"The years I was at City, I came at the beginning of the project, so I can compare both," Gabriel Jesus told reporters. "Here is the beginning - was the beginning last season - and this season it's going to improve a lot because there are a lot of amazing players here who are young.

"When I arrived there [at Man City] I was young with Leroy [Sane], [Raheem] Sterling and other youngsters so. I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm sure we're going to do it together."
