Gabriel Jesus has already 'reassured' Eddie Nketiah on Arsenal game time amid transfer links

Gabriel Jesus' old comments on his preferred playing position will give Eddie Nketiah reassurance over playing time if the Brazilian joins Arsenal this summer.

The north Londoners are keen to bolster their attacking options this summer, football.london understands and Jesus is understood to be one name on the club's shortlist of profiles. Technical director Edu has also held talks with the player's representatives in recent months.

A move for the 25-year-old could majorly impact Eddie Nketiah's game time next season, with the Hale End academy graduate signing a new long-term contract with the club on Friday following months of speculation surrounding his future. However, Jesus' previous comments on playing out wide may be good news for the Arsenal man.

Speaking to City magazine back in October of last year, the City star said: "I feel comfortable out wide and can help my teammates and my team. I can make runs in behind, control the ball, make passes, make crosses, help in defending.

"As I say, I feel comfortable there. I didn't start to play as a winger just this season.

"I have played with the national team there for two years. I started to play in the first team of Palmeiras as a winger as well and I played sometimes when I arrived here as a winger as well.

"So I think I'm okay there. I can make runs in behind, control the ball, make passes, make crosses, help defend so it's all good and suits my game."
