Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli share hilarious insight into Arsenal's £45m summer transfer

Gabriel Jesus is now an Arsenal player, although his £45m summer transfer wasn't exactly one that was kept under wraps before it was completed.

On the Thursday (June 30) before being unveiled as the Gunners' fourth recruit of the summer - after Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Matt Turner - the Brazil international was spotted inside the Emirates Stadium wearing the no.9 shirt which had been vacated by Alexandre Lacazette on the same day.

24 hours later and many Arsenal supporters were expecting the Gabriel Jesus transfer announcement especially after the club removed the pinned tweet on their Twitter page. Although they would have to wait a few more days before the 25-year-old's move was made official.

Now part of the Gunners family, the striker appears to have settled into the squad with ease and much of that could be down to the existing Brazilian influence already at the club as he's been reunited with international teammates Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli.

And to provide an insight into what happened behind the scenes regarding this particular transfer, Arsenal's Social Editor Frimpong sat down with the trio as part of his 'USA Tour Diary' which can be accessed on YouTube and he asked if they were in communication prior to the move being completed.

After Gabriel Magalhaes admits that he asked the striker if he was joining him in north London, Gabriel Jesus brilliantly responds by saying "My agent him" whilst pointing at the defender before Gabriel Martinelli then intervenes to joke that he and the Gunners' no.6 split the signing-on fee.

All three started the 2-0 win over Everton in a pre-season friendly at the weekend with Gabriel Jesus getting on the scoresheet - his third goal in two games - and all three were involved in Bukayo Saka's goal as the former's picked up the ball from Gabriel Magalhaes and his intended pass for Martinelli fell kindly for the England international to slide home.

Interestingly, Gabriel Jesus' actual agent, Marcelo Pettinati, has endeared the Brazilian even more to Arsenal fans by revealing which fellow Premier League club and London rival the striker rejected in order to seal a move to the Emirates Stadium after leaving Manchester City.

"Chelsea were one of the teams that tried to hijack the Arsenal move," he said when speaking to reporter Freddie Paxton. "They tried very hard in the final days to get him. By that point, we’d already chosen our new project."
