Gabriel Jesus and Cole Palmer - Man City injury latest and expected return dates

Manchester City currently have two players out on the sidelines but that hasn't halted their inevitable march to the Premier League title.

City's impressive unbeaten run continued on Wednesday as they eased to a 2-0 victory over Brentford through a Riyad Mahrez penalty and a Kevin De Bruyne strike.

The win has seen Pep Guardiola's side stretch their lead at the top of the table to 12 points, although second-placed Liverpool still have two games in hand to shrink the gap.

What's even more impressive is that their great run of form hasn't been impacted by losing players to injury or, as in Mahrez' case last month, to international duty as he represented Algeria at the African Cup of Nations.

City have been without forward Gabriel Jesus , who has an impressive 15 goal contributions to his name this season, for their FA Cup win over Fulham and then against Brentford.

The Brazilian picked up a minor muscle issue while away on international duty during the winter break but Guardiola is hopeful he will be back soon, perhaps in time to face Norwich City on Saturday.

"Soon he will be ready," the Blues boss said in his pre-Brentford press conference on Tuesday.

"I spoke with him this morning and he feels good but he is not perfect. A few niggles - muscular. We have to be careful."

Young starlet Cole Palmer , meanwhile, has been sidelined since early January.

The teenage playmaker put in a Man of the Match display in the FA Cup win over Swindon Town, notching a goal and an assist, but hasn't played since due to an unspecified problem.

Guardiola said on Palmer last week: "Cole is not ready. After the FA Cup win at Swindon he had a problem and is still not available. He hasn't trained with us since then. We will see what happens in the next weeks."

It's not yet clear when he will be back in action.
