Gabby Logan leaves BBC viewers delivering same verdict as European Championships end

Gabby Logan left many BBC viewers saying the same thing as she drew coverage of the European Championships to a close on Sunday night and announcing that the channel's 'summer of sport' had come to an end.

The multi sports tournament has proved to be cracking viewing over the last week or so as Team GB and competitors from other countries have taken part in a number of disciplines including gymnastics, track and field and speed climbing, which has earned itself plenty of fans.

The European Championships arrived on screen right after the World Championships and the recent Commonwealth Games, meaning BBC viewers have been treated to a lot of sporting action over the past month, especially when you factor in the Women's Euros football as well, which drew in fantastic ratings as England claimed a historic victory in the final.

The last night of action in the athletics, which came after Gabby oversaw medal ceremony chaos just 24 hours earlier, produced a mixed bag of results for British athletes. While there was gold for the men in the 4x100m relay, the women's team suffered a nightmare with the baton and in the 100m hurdles, Cindy Sember, a hit tip to win, ended up finishing last after a race-costing early error,

Gabby was in the studio to reflect on a great 10 days of competition and Team GB's second place finish in the medal table, but had some bad news for people at home who'd been loving all the sporting action, as she confirmed the conclusion of the Championships marked the "end of a summer of sport," on the BBC.

And as the host delivered her parting words, she became a a big talking point on Twitter. One impressed fan tweeted: " @GabbyLogan is an outstanding anchor for sporting events. Knowledgeable, quick to react to developments, encouraging for guests and sets the right tone with competitors, whether they have been successful or suffered disappointment."

Echoing those sentiments, another reacted: " @GabbyLogan the best dressed multi talented presenter on the planet, oozes class, sophistication, knowledge on every field, could she replace @SueBarkerTennis,big shoes to fill, she gets my vote," with a third posting: " @GabbyLogan and her co presenters have smashed it over the past few weeks!! #classAct."
