Gabby Agbonlahor slams Marcelo Bielsa in scathing attack after Leeds' thrashing at Liverpool

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that Leeds will be relegated from the Premier League this season due to the stubborn nature of manager Marcelo Bielsa.

The Argentine is often praised and criticised in equal measure for his reluctance to tweak his tactical approach to games but in recent weeks it has seen Leeds be on the end of some poor results.

Their latest effort saw them make the trip to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side who have been in inspired form of late.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane registered a brace each as central defensive duo Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk also scored to ensure an emphatic home victory for the Reds.

There are "Sunday league managers with more tactical awareness" than Bielsa according to Gabby Agbonlahor (PA)

After the game, Agbonlahor launched a scathing attack on Bielsa's approach and claimed he has less tactical nous than some "Sunday league managers".

Speaking on talkSPORT, the ex-England international said: "I've been saying this for a long time and people have been getting on my back for saying it.

"I've seen Sunday League managers that have better tactical awareness than Marcelo Bielsa.

"There's knowing the game inside out but then he's managing in the Premier League playing against top, top teams and you go man for man.

"How many times are they going to concede over 20 shots. How many times are Leeds going to be popped.

"This is a record you know to lose 6-0 and 7-0 in one season. It's a record since 1933 I think."

While Agbonlahor gave Bielsa praise for his efforts in getting Leeds back in to the top flight after more than two decades outside of it, he is not surprised by their struggles.

"Bielsa, I've been saying for a long time - yes, getting Leeds promoted and did amazing last season - I called it at the start of the season I said second season syndrome.

"Everyone is going to find them out, everyone is going to enjoy playing against them.

"Look at the game yesterday, you're playing against one of the best teams in the world and you're going man for man. Honestly, the tactics."

He continued by speculating whether Leeds players would want to remain at Elland Road for much longer if these tactics will continue to undermine their efforts in the biggest games.

"If I was a Leeds player, I'd be on the phone to my agent saying 'He's killing us, he's killing us.'

Gabriel Agbonlahor suggested some Leeds players could look to leave the club as a result of the tactics (talkSPORT)

"Honestly, I'm baffled by Leeds. I don't want to hear about bravery or they're a really entertaining team to watch. I was listening to the show last night [TalkSPORT] with Jamie O'Hara and [Jason] Cundy.

"Leeds fans were ringing in and they want a change. They want a change and someone who's going to keep them in the Premier League.

"Bielsa could play against a world star XI and he'd go man for man. His tactics are stubborn and they're going to get Leeds relegated."

The Leeds boss sees his contract expire come the end of the current campaign and as things stand there is little talk surrounding a renewal.
