GAAGO to stream Championship draw as seedings are confirmed for ‘Super 16s’ and Tailteann Cup

The draw for the new-look All-Ireland series will be made on Tuesday afternoon and will be broadcast live on GAAGO from 1pm.

Following the results of the Ulster and Leinster semi-finals at the weekend, Kildare and Cork held on to the final two places in the ‘Super 16s’ with Down and Offaly heading for the Tailteann Cup.

The Mournemen lost out to Armagh in Sunday’s Ulster SFC semi-final in Clones and needed to reach the provincial final to make the top 16.

Offaly also needed to make the Leinster Final to avoid the Tailteann Cup, but were edged out by Louth after extra-time in a thrilling game in Croke Park.

The draw will take place ahead of all four provincial finals so teams will know which group they are in with the provincial winners designated as first seeds and the runners-up as second seeds.

Mayo, Roscommon, Tyrone and Monaghan are the third seeds while Donegal, Cork, Kildare and 2022 Tailteann Cup winners Westmeath are the fourth seeds.

Each team will play one game at home, one away and one at a neutral venue. The provincial winners and top seeds will have home advantage in round one against a third seed and the second seeds will be at home to the fourth seeds.

Tyrone, for example, will play their first game away to a provincial champion. Their second game will be at home to a provincial runner-up and their third game will be at a neutral venue against a fourth seeded team.

The four groups of four teams will play three games with only one team being eliminated from the All-Ireland series from each group.

The top team in each group will progress straight through to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals.

The teams finishing second and third in each group will go through to the preliminary quarter-finals. Those eight teams will play-off to produce four winners for the quarter-finals.

A similar format will be used for the Tailteann Cup, although only seven teams will progress to the preliminary quarter-finals where New York will enter the competition.

The four group winners go through to the quarter-finals. The runners-up and three of the best finishing third-placed teams progress to the preliminary quarter-finals.

The full fixture list for both competitions will be confirmed by the CCCC on Friday, May 5.
