A GAA supporter has thanked the people of a rival county after they helped his elderly mother who required urgent medical attention after a serious fall.
The thankful Tyrone supporter left a heartfelt message of support for Roscommon fans after his mother fell and hit her forehead following a match at Dr Hyde Park in Roscommon.
"I would like to express my thanks to all those who helped while she was still on the ground," he wrote in a Facebook message to the official Roscommon GAA page.
He explained that he was at the game with his mother, father and son on the day.
"After exiting the ground and walking back to our car my mother took a fall and hit her forehead on the ground," he recalled.
He said that a family stopped and gave them wipes to help stop the bleeding, another got them water, some kept him calm and others looked after his mother's injury.
"To the garda who got a car to take her to the nearby hospital urgent care unit, the staff at the urgent care unit who were very thorough and looked after my mum in every way possible," he wrote in thanks.
His mother was later discharged and is recuperating at home, he informed.
"The people of Roscommon couldn't have done anymore, the goodwill shown to us by everyone who passed was amazing.
"Go Raibh Maith Agaibh," he added.
