The GAA legend at the centre of a major investigation into an alleged large scale fraud has been arrested.
The Irish Mirror has confirmed that the former star was arrested by detectives in the east of the country on Wednesday.
The officers are probing allegations that he defrauded people out of up to €1 million by claiming he needed the cash to travel abroad for cancer treatment.

Gardai confirmed an arrest tonight – and we have established it is the high profile star.
Gardai told the Irish Mirror: “An Garda Síochána does not comment on named persons.
“Gardaí in the Eastern Region have arrested a male in relation to an ongoing investigation into an alleged fraud.”
Sources say the man is being held on suspicion of having committed an offence under Section 6 Criminal Justice (Theft & Fraud) Offences Act, 2001 – which is of deception.
That carries a maximum jail term on conviction of five years,
The man was being held at a Garda station in the east last night. He can be quizzed for 24 hours.
