In a message sent to the ticket-holders of Fyre Fest 2, it was announced that the event will be “postponed” less than two months before it was scheduled to begin. Who would have guessed!!
“The event has been postponed and a new date will be announced. We have issued you a refund,” the message, acquired by TMZ, read.
“Once the new date is announced, at that time, you can repurchase if it works for your schedule.”
The event is a follow-up to the infamous failed music festival that landed organiser Billy McFarland in jail for wire fraud, and was featured in the 2019 Netflix documentary FYRE.
McFarland was sentenced to six years in jail in 2018, but was released early in 2022.
Fyre Fest 2 was scheduled to take place this year from May 30 to June 2, and has been advertised as a luxury music experience with an “atmosphere that redefines creativity and culture”. Sure, Jan.

To help convince a (justifiably) skeptical public of Fyre Fest 2’s legitimacy, McFarland published a set of documents that allegedly prove the planning of the event at Playa Del Carmen on April 5 on X (formerly Twitter).
However, one document indicated that the event would have a maximum of 250 people in a 12-hour period — despite event promoters planning for almost 2,000 guests over multiple days.
The postponement comes after organisers failed to secure the Mexican resort town of Playa Del Carmen to host Fyre Fest 2, and local officials stated they had no knowledge of the event.
“We have no knowledge of this event, nor contact with any person or company about it. For us, this is an event that does not exist,” a statement posted to Instagram by Playa Del Carmen government officials wrote.

Despite this massive issue, the festival’s organisers assured ticket-holders that the event was “still on”.
“When a government takes your money, issues permits, promotes the event, and then pretends it’s never heard of you, that’s not just dishonest — it’s theft. Due to this, we have decided to move FYRE Festival 2 elsewhere,” the message read.
“FYRE Festival 2 is still on.
“We are vetting new locations and will announce our host destination soon. Our priorities remain unchanged: delivering an unforgettable, safe, and transparent experience.
The promoter of Fyre Festival 2, McFarland, told NBC News that a new date for the festival is “dependent on location”, and it is not currently clear when the festival will take place.
