Lily Allen has been branded ‘classless’ after posting a crying-with-laughter emoji at a meme poking fun at the death of Prince Philip.
The 35-year-old reacted to a post on Instagram which showed Super Nanny Jo Frost closing a door on a crying toddler.
The image, shared on Saint Hoax’ Instagram, was captioned: “Princess Diana when Philip tries to enter heaven”, the Mirror Online reports.
Mum of two Lily, commented: "I'm dead at the Diana one" - adding a crying-with-laughter-emoji.
The singer was quickly criticised on social media but she hit back at the ‘trolls and bots’.
Presumably after being trolled for her comment on Instagram, the Smile singer wrote: "Oh, Prince Philip has died"- adding a "lot of trolls and bots out tonight."
"#RIP Prince Phillip you would have loved late stage surveillance capitalism."
Fans continued to comment on the star's Twitter, with one asking: "Classless lily, thought better of you than that ! Why bother?"
She swiftly replied: "I assure you I am even more depraved than you could possibly imagine."
Other fans rushed to defend Lily, with one tweeting: "Almost as if people are waiting for you to put a foot wrong." Another seethed: "Don't you have any respect?"
Saint Hoax, an artist with 2.7million Instagram followers has clocked up over 4,800 comments since it was shared with Lily's comment getting 19 replies.
