Crooks used a stolen car for a night-time drive-by shooting on a boutique stone supplier before fleeing more than 100km and torching their ride, confounding the business' owners.
Footage shows a blue Subaru WRX creeping past Aldo Brodic at Richmond in Melbourne about 3am Thursday, with a volley of shots being fired through a rear window, piercing the shop's glass.
No one was inside the shop at the time.
About three hours later the car was found burnt at Moe in the Gippsland region.
It is believed the Subaru was stolen from Pakenham on July 30.
Police want to speak with witnesses who may have been in the area or seen the vehicle at the time.
Aldo Brodic said it was co-operating with police and thankful no one was hurt.
"It is unknown to us as to the reason why the shop was targeted," Aldo Brodic said in a statement on Thursday.
"We are a family-run business and have been in operation for several years and Richmond is our home."
The store, which specialises in natural stone and furniture, plans to re-open on Friday.
